Hey guys, let’s talk about “Testing Mindset” which I believe is really important in order to become a successful software tester.
What I believe as an experienced tester, for us, our soft skills are sometimes more important than our technical knowledge.
Developers and testers often think differently. The primary objective of development is to design and build a product. The objectives of testing include verifying and validating the product, finding defects prior to release, and so forth. These are different sets of objectives which require different mindsets. Bringing these mindsets together helps to achieve a higher level of product quality.
- A tester should be curious about everything! When you test an application, you should think what you would like to see, if you were the costumer
- Never feel shy about telling your opinion. Brainstorming is the key for any successful software project and continuing feedbacks are part of our job as a software tester.
- Software tester can test everything! Literally everything. You can test peace of requirement or an application screen before its implemented. So always try to involve in the process as earlier as possible. Your company will see a big benefit from this.
- Don’t forget, “Developers write code to pass the tests” and “Testers try to fail them”. Our job is to find issues in the developed code or design. Sometimes it will be challenging to work “against” some of the colleagues but at the end we all work for the same purpose, creating an application, which has high quality and serves our customers well.
I believe that correct mindset can lead you to a great success. I hope you enjoyed the first blog post! Thanks for reading.
